To build self-confidence eliminate self-doubt
Most individuals have struggled with self-doubt at some point in time. Asking themselves the following questions – Am I capable of doing this task? Are other people better than me? Is something wrong with me? These questions arise out of self- doubt and certain insecurities, which is part and parcel of human experience, that can be due to several reasons. However it may affect one’s ability to make decisions and confidence in oneself. One needs to take certain things into consideration while going through this phase to be able to deal with it, and move ahead.
Tips to help you overcome your insecurities
To overcome insecurities, you will have to make some changes in the way you approach life and every day decisions and interactions. Here are a few tips that can help you.
- Avoid the need for perfectionism in everything that you do
Understand that everyone messes up sometime or the other. One need not be perfect in everything and every time. Accepting this will help individuals to bounce back, and look into the situation from a different perspective and build resilience. As an individual, allow oneself the space to breathe, fail, grow and learn lessons.
- Avoid comparisons with othersThere is usually a tendency to compare oneself with others, however, one should also not forget what they have achieved as an individual. Focus on self-achievement, the challenges that the individual has overcome, and reached this stage of where they are right now. Not everyone is going through the same journey. Everyone is fighting their own battles. Focusing on self-care also helps.
- Reframing your thoughts using positive affirmations
Use positive affirmations like, “Yes, it is difficult but I can try as much as I can”. Complimenting oneself whenever possible and practicing self-compassion is important.
- Building confidence in oneself can help you thrive
It will also help you cope better with stress, and help you develop a positive attitude.
